Welcome...

The Mark Nanney Memorial Scholarship was established in November of 1991. Mark, while in his second year as Drum Major of the Norcross High School Band, was tragically killed by a drunk driver while on his way to a University of Georgia football game in Athens.

Contributions to memorialize Mark poured in from all over the state, and from that sizable fund, the Nanney family and the Norcross High School Band Boosters developed the Mark Nanney Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Norcross High School Band students.

The $1000 Scholarship was created to encourage and financially assist talented Norcross High School Band members who, like Mark, plan to make a significant contribution to the music world by pursuing a college degree and a career in Music Performance or in Music Education. This is a unique opportunity for financial aide which few high school programs can offer to their students.  To date, over $22,000 has been awarded for college music study through this Scholarship Fund.

It is Mark's talent, leadership, and dedication that will set the example for all future recipients of this Scholarship.
